Iris Janke was born in Munich in 1975. She studied visual communication at the Berlin University of the Arts and fine arts at the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts in Stockholm. In 2011, she was selected as C/O Talent. Her works have been shown at the Rencontres d’Arles, the White Box Munich, C/O Berlin Foundation and Goethe Institut Washington. Excerpts from her photographic series have appeared in numerous publications, including Camera Austria, Ein Magazin über Orte, Romka Magazine, Mono.Kultur and C/O Berlin Newspaper. Since 2014, she is project coordinator in the education team at the C/O Berlin Foundation.
